Assistants 2026
[Applications accepted starting February 4, 2026]
Art and design students from across Germany, as well as young artists (who graduated no more than 3 years ago), are eligible to apply for an academy assistantship. A limited number of spots are also available for design and art students from national and international universities, for artistically gifted high school students, and for immigrants. (Places are given preferentially to students in the Department of Design at HAW Hamburg and HfbK Hamburg)
As an academy assistant, you’ll receive free enrollment in the courses. In return, you’ll help us with our volunteer work (approx. 18–20 hours), e.g., setting up and taking down (equipping course rooms, setting up tents…) and/or running the academy (helping in the café, preparing for parties…). Your involvement with Pentiment will be organized so that you can participate in the workshops without any significant restrictions. The work will be fairly distributed among all assistants (approx. 30–40).

If a course is oversubscribed, a selection will be made among the assistants. Therefore, it is necessary for previous participants to submit portfolios with each subsequent application. Confirmation of ParticipationUpon receipt of the application materials, applicants will receive an acknowledgment of receipt from Pentiment. As a rule, each applicant will be informed within six weeks of Pentiment sending the acknowledgment of receipt whether they can participate, via a binding confirmation of participation. Pentiment’s cancellation policy applies thereafter. Courses that do not receive enough registrations by six weeks before the start date must be canceled at that time.
